Virtual Exhibition Tour

Lakeside’s Christmas production of The Singing Mermaid was the inspirational starting point for this fabulous installation.

Eight schools have involved classes across different year groups from Foundation to Year Six. Each has taken a very different approach, using a range of techniques and styles to demonstrate the talent and creativity in their school. All have recycled, repurposed, and reused materials in order to draw attention to the waste that ends up in our oceans.

Did you ever go to Silversands
On a sunny day?
Then perhaps you saw the mermaid
Who sang in the deep blue bay...

In Watershed Productions’ presentation of a Little Angel Theatre and Royal and Derngate, Northampton production, The Singing Mermaid, the mermaid is tempted away to join a travelling circus with the promise of a life of excitement and her own swimming pool! The audiences love her singing but soon she finds she’s been tricked by the dastardly circus master.

Lakeside Arts would like to thank all the children, teachers and teaching assistants of the participating schools listed below for their hard work and creativity, the results of which will be enjoyed by thousands of Lakeside’s visitors.

Crabtree Farm Primary School
